Cryogenic capability
Helium is the job. Everything else follows from it.
Helium maintains the superconducting state of an MRI magnet, cooling it to the extremely low temperatures required for stable magnetic field generation.
By gradually reducing the temperature of the magnet components using controlled cryogenic methods, our process minimises thermal stress, improves cooling efficiency and significantly reduces helium consumption.
The filling procedure
- 01
Pre-fill assessment
The system is checked before anything is transferred, so the fill starts from a known state.
02Controlled filling
Helium is transferred step by step rather than in one pass, keeping the magnet within its thermal limits.
03Continuous monitoring
Pressure and temperature are watched throughout the transfer, not sampled at the end.
04Post-fill checks
System checks confirm magnet stability before the engineers leave site.

Our technical team handles de-installation and dismantling of MRI and CT scanners to strict procedure, and provides refurbishment, technical evaluation and resale or redeployment support for pre-owned systems. Cryotech also buys used medical imaging equipment.
